Is RV Life worth it?
I was in one of my RV groups on Facebook where like minded people that choose this life, especially if you are a full timer, or the majority of time, and there was a man that was frustrated, angry, fed up, and wife left crying.
I can so relate to that. To be honest, everyone is different and want different things from this life. Not one person is wrong as that is the beauty of choosing this life but it can come at horrible costs financially, relationships, and disappointment. I, myself, had one of those days yesterday only for different reasons. When you are new, making the biggest change in your life from selling everything to this life, there is no one person that can truly be ready for it. There are always expenses, there will always be new adjustments in so many ways to even the smallest ones in a kitchen or bathroom to the bigger ones that make you wonder if you can really afford this lifestyle.
When this happens, it’s time to step back, take a breath, and remember the reasons you chose this life. Step away for awhile and find some happiness to remind you why you looked forward to this life. For me, being an outdoorsy old gal that had some of the best memories of my life with my father fishing, swimming, boating, water, mountains, etc. So I find my peace when surrounding myself with the things that make me feel whole. They comfort me. They surround me with memories of days gone by and remind me of the new memories to make. Take a deep breath, pray, sing, whatever you can do that makes you feel that it’s going to be ok.
It doesn’t matter whether you have a brick and mortar home, a camper, an RV, etc, there will be ups and downs. Try to remember to look at the greater picture. Be careful we don’t take it out on those we love, or allow them to push us aside if you have a partner, They are learning too. Even though we are very new, already we have learned to save, save, save, as repairs can get very expensive. Remember to look outside your frustrations to the end of the problem and plan how to get there. Hell, if you drink, stop and have a good drink and just breathe! Just don’t forget to live in the moment, not the trials life gives us. You will get there. I’m testament to these very problems that go on and even though we aren’t completely there, we are slowly getting there.
Rv life has a wonderful community of people that are kind, helpful, and those that have lived this life for many years are a wealth of information. Don’t be afraid to say hello, get to know your neighbor. It’s ok if you like solitude also. It’s your life….take time to enjoy even in the middle of the problems.
Until next time,
Enjoy the adventures!
